A data center project is rarely held up by engineering alone. Cooling is an engineering question, and it is not ours. What sits around it is: the source that supplies the campus, the watershed that sustains that source, the ecosystems connected to it, and the people who depend on it. Those are nature-related questions, and in a water-stressed basin they often decide whether a site is viable at all.

We work alongside your engineering and water teams, not instead of them, and we build the ecological and watershed evidence their design has to be defended with.

HOW WE WORK TOGETHER

Discovery first. Then the program that carries the project.

Every engagement starts as a Discovery, the same structured diagnostic behind every KEA program: what the site requires, what already exists, and what investment closes the difference.

Discovery

Maps the licensing pathway, the ecological and water questions the site raises, the questions likely to come up in review, and the disclosure commitments the company already carries. Returns a scoped plan, sequenced by what gates the project first.

Baseline

Establishes the ecological and watershed reference condition of the site and the landscape around it, before construction. This is the reference every future claim depends on, and it can only be built once, while the ground is still unchanged.

MRV

Measurement, reporting and verification through construction and operation, against the biodiversity, water and community indicators agreed at baseline. The record shows what actually happened on the site, continuously, instead of being reconstructed under pressure at renewal.

Mitigation & Uplift

The mitigation hierarchy first. Where residual impact remains, a restoration, conservation or watershed-resilience program in the same landscape, designed to be measured and audited rather than declared.

LOCAL PERMITTING & STAKEHOLDER RISK

The license is granted locally. So is the permission to keep operating.

In Brazil, environmental licensing runs under CONAMA Resolution 237/1997, which structures approval into three stages, Licenca Previa, Licenca de Instalacao and Licenca de Operacao, sets out the studies each stage requires, and provides for a public hearing where the project's impact warrants one. Projects judged to cause significant degradation require an EIA/RIMA, which is published and open to comment. Equivalent processes, under different names, gate projects across the region.

That means the file is read by a public authority, and in many cases by communities, prosecutors and NGOs as well. A project that arrives at that stage with a defensible ecological and watershed record, and a documented relationship with the people around it, is in a different position than one that arrives with neither.

We support both sides of that: the technical evidence that satisfies the reviewing authority, and the evidence base that makes engagement with the community substantive rather than procedural. We do not replace your legal or permitting counsel. We make sure the environmental record underneath them holds.
